…When eating healthy most of the week, you give yourself a day off and treat yourself.  What do you suggest?

It is a good idea for people to treat themselves but obviously these treats need to have boundaries.  There is sort of no good answer in terms of what to do, what not to do except that people do need to exercise and that does allow them to have a treat or have a glass of wine or whatever it might be.  So if you’re expending that energy, you do have more flexibility.  In terms of the current epidemic of obesity and diabetes, it is very important that we do eat well and we do exercise but I think it’s also important to remember it’s not completely black and white.  People can’t be 100% perfect all the time and if people do try and achieve that is where they fall down so there does need to be flexibility and a very practical type of plan in place.

So treats don’t mean going on a binge-drinking weekend or eating ten blocks of chocolates?

No, I mean I quite often ask my clients to nominate what their treat is.  That might be a chocolate bar for example or it might be a burger and chips.  They can do that if for the rest of the week they’ve actually been following the plan they need to follow.  We provide for that treat within their weekly plan…

The Wake Up Call™ Total Body Workout

Steve,
just letting you know how the workouts are going.
I can now keep up with you doing the rowing exercises in the total body workout. I remember when i first started doing the workout i could barely hold the bar up for a count of 20, let alone keep up with you so I have come a long way. And the personal circuit has done wonders for my legs. It makes it easier to run because my thighs are getting so much stronger.
And my partner said to me the other day “your legs are looking really fit now, they dont look flabby any more”. I’m taking it as a compliment! :-)
I didnt think I could ever look like this again at my age but you have done it for me. And i havent had to do long hard workouts at the gym or pay huge gym fees!!! I have done it all at home and squeezed a workout into everyday because they are so quick.
I love it!!!
THANK YOU!!
Cath

What type of exercise should I do?
There are so many choices. Walking is a good start and gets you outside offyour butt and out of the office and home. For people with joint problems, an exercise that supports your weight suchswimming (or walking in the water) or biking is ideal. What about balloon tennis in the lounge room?I recently had someone at my speaking seminars stand up and explain howhe exercises. Along with his wife and grandchild, he blows a balloon up andplays tennis every morning in the lounge room. What a fantastic way to get the family moving again!
What about throwing the Frisbee? Do you remember what a Frisbee is?
Remember, if you don’t like it try something else – just getmoving!
