…I’ve noted is the last 18 years, just about every block of 5 years, you will find that there is a deterioration in these cardio-vascular risks despite the great efforts by the Health Department and my fellow colleagues and others in the health industry working feverishly to bring it to the population’s attention that if we don’t manage these reversible cardio-vascular risks, we’re going to have increasing problems down the track. If it wasn’t for the intervention of pharmaceuticals and the use of drugs, then perhaps our situation here would be much more dramatic in regards to any heart attacks or strokes for a lot of our seniors, and then of course there is a lot of complications in relation to diabetes, renal failure, visual loss, vascular disease and sadly even surgical intervention…(The Wake Up Call Audio cd program Part 2: Interviews with health professionals)
